ESSA/SCE

About Us

The goal of the Office of ESSA/SCE is to ensure that all children (especially disadvantage) have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. The programs include Title I, Part A, Title I, Part D, Title II, Part A, and Title V Services to Nonpublic Schools, Title I School Improvement Grant and State Compensatory Education. The Office of ESSA/SCE aims to achieve this goal by:

  • closing the achievement gap between high- and low-performing children, especially the achievement gaps between minority and nonminority students, and between disadvantaged children and their more advantaged peers,
  • identifying and turning around low-performing schools that have failed to provide a high-quality education to their students,
  • distributing and targeting resources sufficiently to make a difference to local educational agencies and schools where needs are greatest;
  • affording parents substantial and meaningful opportunities to participate in the education of their children reducing the dropout rate of at-risk students
  • reducing disparity<
