Dr. Roland Hernandez, Superintendent of Schools
 

During a Special Called Meeting held on August 14, 2014, the Corpus Christi Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved to name Dr. Roland Hernandez as the new Superintendent of Schools.

Before being hired as CCISD Chief Administrative Officer in 2010, Dr. Hernandez, a Woodsboro native, served as the superintendent of schools for Waco ISD from 2006 until 2010. Prior to that, he served as deputy superintendent in Tyler ISD and Belton ISD. His career path has also taken him to the Texas Education Agency where he worked in the Division of Accountability and Evaluations and served as state director of the National Assessment of Educational Progress. He also worked at the Charles C. Dana Center at the University of Texas in Austin serving as the program coordinator for the Education Improvement Network. He began his career as a teacher and coach in the Angleton ISD in 1992.

Dr. Hernandez completed his Ph. D. at the University of Texas at Austin in 2001. He received his master’s degree from the University of Houston—Clear Lake in 1998, and his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University in 1992.

Dr. Hernandez has lived in Corpus Christi for the past 4 years and is actively involved in the community. He currently serves on the following boards: Junior Achievement, Mayor’s Fitness Council, Leadership Corpus Christi-Chair Elect, Citizens for Educational Excellence and NCLB Advisory. He and his wife, Cindy, have two children, Lauren, a sophomore at Texas State University and a 2013 graduate of Richard King High School, and Leyton, a 2016 graduate of Richard King High

Sue Daniel

Sue joined CCISD in August 2002 as secretary to Mr. Michael Briones, who at the time was the Certified Personnel Director. In 2005, Mr. Briones was promoted to Executive Director for Human Resources and was promoted as his administrative assistant. In May 2007, she was promoted to administrative assistant to Mr. Michael Briones the Chief Administrative Officer.

Working with Mr. Briones has been very educational for Sue in learning human resources responsibilities and leadership skills. 

Sue has thoroughly enjoyed working for CCISD. She believes that 38 years experience in the secretarial field has spring boarded her to be successful her position.  Sue was selected to take over the Board of Trustees elections in 2008.

When Mr. Briones retired in June 2010, Dr. Roland Hernandez who was superintendent in Waco, Texas was hired to replace Mr. Briones.  Sue and Dr. Hernandez had a great four years working in Administrative Services together.

On August 2014, Dr. Hernandez was hired as superintendent and he appointed Sue as his Senior Executive Administrative Assistant.   

Sue has two daughters, Karen Daniel who lives in Houston and works as a US PCRO Advisor for Shell Oil and Katherine Alba who lives in Pasadena and is a teacher for Pasadena ISD.  Katherine has blessed Sue with a granddaughter, Ava, 9 years old and in September will be blessed with a grandson.

Sue enjoys raising chickens and collecting her color eggs, enjoys her fur babies and traveling to Houston area to spend time with her family.

 

 

Jerri Osberg

Jerri Osberg has been employed with the District since 2009. Since coming to the District she has served as Administrative Assistant to the Director of Magnet Programs and Administrative Assistant to various Specialists in the office of Special Programs.  

Jerri now serves as the Senior Executive Administrative Assistant to the Board of Trustees.  In her personal time, she loves cooking, cycling and spending time at the beach, reading and boogie boarding with her husband.  She has a beautiful daughter currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and attending college.
