Bring Your Own Device

The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program provides students the optional opportunity to use a technology device they prefer, to supplement the device from the district, or to meet other needs and preferences. BYOD is supported across the campuses.

BYOD Rules

Rules:

  1. Student will adhere to all District policies and procedures including Acceptable Use Guidelines for Online Access, BYOD Student Guidelines listed below, and all District and Board policies. Student Parent Handbook

  2. I understand and agree that the district wireless network is for educational purposes and Student personal electronic devices will be filtered for Internet access in the same manner as District owned computers.

  3. I understand that Student personal electronic devices can only be connected to the Internet wirelessly via the designated CCISD-WIFI connection. Personally subscribed connections are strictly prohibited, as is any other connection besides the CCISD-WIFI wireless network while on District property.

  4. All software and files on Student personal electronic devices are licensed for use in compliance with copyright law. I understand this is required at all times when using District networks and resources.

  5. Student has purchased and installed current antivirus software on the personal electronic device (where applicable) and agrees to update it regularly along with critical Windows updates.

  6. Student will have no peer-to-peer (music/video/file-sharing) software or web-hosting services on personal devices while connected to the District network.

  7. Student will provide access to personal electronic equipment for District technical support or campus staff upon request for initial setup or if there are grounds to believe District policies have been violated.

  8. Student will not use personal network devices to bypass the Internet filter on any District network.

  9. I understand and agree that Student will not receive technical support from District staff for personal equipment beyond connectivity to the wireless network.

  10. If unauthorized equipment is discovered to be connected to the network, it will be removed immediately by District staff and reported to the appropriate office for disciplinary action in accordance with district policies.

  11. Student personal electronic devices used in the classroom are permitted only with the teacher’s approval and only at the times designated by the teacher.

  12. I understand the District is not responsible for damage, loss, or theft of the personal electronic device, software, or services.

  13. The District will not be responsible for financial obligations arising from the unauthorized use of networks.

  14. Private or confidential District data will not be saved to personal electronic devices. 

  15. The District is not responsible for the accuracy or quality of the information obtained or stored on the network or retrieved via the Internet.

How to sign up for BYOD:

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) allows students to bring their own computing devices to school for use in their day to day academic needs.

  1. Please download and fill out Acceptable Use/BYOD link here and turn in to your students campus

  2. An Internet connection (CCISD Wi-Fi) is provided specifically for students’ personal devices.

  3. Students log-on using the same username and password they use for access to computers on campus.

  4. Once logged on, students can use the Internet connection for research, communication, and collaboration. The CCISD Wi-Fi filter system is still active on personal student devices.

  • Memory: 4GB DDR3 1333 or more

  • Wireless: AC Wi-Fi

  • eMMC: 32GB eMMC or better

  • Display: 11.6” 1366 x 768 resolution with touch or better

  • Battery: 6 hour life or longer

BYOD FAQ

  • What devices can students bring on campus? Any WIFI capable mobile devices, including laptops (Windows or Mac), netbooks, iPads, iPod Touch, eReaders (Nooks, Kindles), smart phones, and other tablets.

  • What if a student has technical issues with the device? Students must manage their own technology and should take care of any technical issues. The District will not be responsible for ensuring that any personal-owned device is functioning properly.

  • Is CCISD-WIFI Internet access filtered? Yes, personally owned devices when connected to CCISD-WIFI’s Internet will be filtered to protect students from harmful Internet content.

  • Are students allowed to connect to the Internet using their personal data plans? Student personal electronic devices can only be connected to the CCISD-WIFI Internet. Personally subscribed connections (3g,4g,5G, LTE) are strictly prohibited.

  • Can students print from their personal devices? Printing from personal devices is not supported.
