About CCISD Food Services
Participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) -
Participates in National School Lunch/National School Breakfast Programs and the CACFP Supper Program. Building for the Future (English/Spanish Flyer).
Programs are federally funded/regulated by strict state and federal guidelines and managed by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA).
Operates like a business to attain goal of serving highest quality meals at lowest possible price.·
By Federal Law not allowed to make a profit from this program. Prices charged for ala carte meals are prescribed by law. 2023-2024 budget is $23.5 million.
Approximately 95% of revenue is from federal reimbursements for student meals and the remaining 5% is from alacarte, adult meals and catering.
Sets minimum adult lunch price for all school sites ($5.00) by formula prescribed by Federal Law based on required serving sizes and federal reimbursements received for student meals. Larger serving sizes cannot be served to adults unless price is increased.
Income received pays all food service related expenditures (i.e. salary, health insurance, workers compensation, uniforms, meals, food, supplies, delivery trucks, kitchen equipment, cafeteria tables/chairs, as well as reimbursements to the district for utilities and maintenance services).
Receives no money from local CCISD budget.
Receives federal reimbursement income for meals after a complete meal has been served to students meeting all of the requirements.
Receives no reimbursement for adult meals.
