• Programs are federally funded/regulated by strict state and federal guidelines and managed by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA).

• Operates like a business to attain goal of serving highest quality meals at lowest possible price.·

• By Federal Law not allowed to make a profit from this program. Prices charged for ala carte meals are prescribed by law. 2023-2024 budget is $23.5 million.

• Approximately 95% of revenue is from federal reimbursements for student meals and the remaining 5% is from alacarte, adult meals and catering.

• Sets minimum adult lunch price for all school sites ($5.00) by formula prescribed by Federal Law based on required serving sizes and federal reimbursements received for student meals. Larger serving sizes cannot be served to adults unless price is increased.

• Income received pays all food service related expenditures (i.e. salary, health insurance, workers compensation, uniforms, meals, food, supplies, delivery trucks, kitchen equipment, cafeteria tables/chairs, as well as reimbursements to the district for utilities and maintenance services).

• Receives no money from local CCISD budget.

• Receives federal reimbursement income for meals after a complete meal has been served to students meeting all of the requirements.

• Receives no reimbursement for adult meals.
