Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • What test will be administered to my child?
Kindergarten students are tested in two stages. The test administered in the first stage is the Naglieri Nonverbal Abilities Test (NNAT). Students who meet the identified criteria will advance to the second testing stage. The second stage tests are the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) – reading and mathematics. Students in grades 1-11 take all three tests in one administration. (Students will receive a restroom break between the testing sessions as needed.)

  • Are the tests taken on the computer?
Yes, all tests are administered online.

  • How long are the tests?

    • NNAT3 assessment: 30 minute timed test.

    • NWEA assessments: students have up to 2 hours to complete each section (reading and mathematics).

  • Will all students finish testing at the same time?
No. Students taking the NWEA have up to 2 hours to complete each section, and progress at their individual pace.

  • What if my child doesn’t know how to use a computer?
The testing administrators will give a brief overview of the testing platform and will provide technical assistance, as requested by student. We recommend at home computer practice with using a mouse and keyboard.

  • Does the district provide study materials?
    No.

  • Where will my child be tested?
CCISD students will be tested at their enrolled campus. Non-CCISD students will be tested at CCISD Instructional Resource Center, 4321 Prescott St, Corpus Christi, TX 78416.

Some helpful tips for parents:

  • Ensure that your child has a good night's rest and a nutritious breakfast.
