About Us
Committed to developing hearts and minds, Corpus Christi Independent School District provides access for all students to self-select reading materials from the school library. CCISD libraries contain instructional resources to support the curriculum as well as titles to stimulate growth in factual knowledge, enjoyment of reading, and literary appreciation.
Local School Library Advisory Council
The CCISD School Board of Trustees has elected to create a Local School Library Advisory Council (SLAC). SLAC has been established to assist the district in ensuring that the local community values are reflected in each school library catalog.

Library Materials Acquisitions
In compliance with state law, CCISD provides a public list of all library materials to be donated or to be procured by a school library to be accessible for a public comment period of at least 30 days before final board approval.
All titles are selected by certified school librarians following TSLAC Mandatory Collection Standards and EFB Local School Board Policy. Per Senate Bill 13, the Local School Library Advisory Council, appointed by the School Board of Trustees, will meet to discuss the lists during the period the list is available for review by the public.
The lists below are currently being considered for the grade level listed and above. For example, books considered for elementary could also be purchased by middle or high school, but books listed for high school could not be purchased for lower grade levels.
The next review lists will be posted on or before April 7, 2026.
Parents, students, and/or community members living within the school district zone are welcome to provide comments/feedback on the review lists through this feedback form. All comments received prior to the next scheduled SLAC meeting will be reviewed by the SLAC prior to board submission.
After SLAC has completed their review of the current lists and made their recommendations to the School Board, parents or community members may present additional feedback directly to the School Board by completing an Audience Participation Registration Card at the next scheduled Board Meeting.
The board of trustees will approve or reject the lists of library materials that have been posted at the first open meeting of the board held on or after the 30th day after the date the list is made accessible for review by the public as required by law.
