In a dazzling celebration, the community came together to support local veteran, longtime educator and band director Ram Chavez at Veterans Memorial High School as the school dedicated its performing arts hall in his name.
Mr. Chavez had a full house at the dedication ceremony. From family and friends to former students, current bandmates and local dignitaries, the community gathered to share in this special celebration.
"By serving as a band director in CCISD schools, and for many years now as a leader of the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi, Mr. Chavez continues to serve by offering the gift of music and leading veterans in continued service to our community," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Roland Hernandez.
Following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Chavez led the unveiling of the performing arts hall’s new name, much to the delight of the crowd.
