Corpus Christi ISD All-Stars showcased their talents during the recent Special Olympics track meet.

The team includes students throughout the district, who each bring their own talent to the team. Coaches, volunteers and spectators cheered on the participants as they competed in their events. The event had over 500 participants from several delegations. CCISD brought 71 athletes, all of whom received recognition for events including the 50m, 100m, relay races, wheelchair races, shot put, long jump, and softball/tennis ball throw.

CCISD All-Star coach Cathy De La Paz expressed pride in her athletes. They not only wow her, she said, but their parents as well.

"The hard work and have long practices that our athletes participate in on a weekly basis helps them to overcome the many obstacles that they are challenged with on a daily basis," De La Paz said. "Their ability to conquer these sports give them the confidence, social skills, and friendships that will impact them in being the best version of themselves."
