The energy and smiles were high as CCISD Allstars took to the water for the Special Olympics swim meet. For these athletes, it's about building confidence, learning new skills, making lifelong friends, and feeling like they truly belong.
Preparing for the big day required weeks of dedication. Athletes practiced several times each week, working hard to improve their strokes, build endurance, and become comfortable in the water.
“What I love most about coaching Special Olympics athletes is seeing their confidence grow, their skills improve, and friendships form that last a lifetime,” said Melinda Escamilla, CCISD Allstars coach. “This meet is more than competition; it’s about connection and celebration.”
Family members, teachers, and community supporters filled the stands with cheers and encouragement, creating a vibrant atmosphere of support. Whether athletes brought home medals or personal bests, every participant was met with high-fives, hugs, and proud applause.
