November 20, 2025

Dear CCISD Staff and Families:

I wanted to provide you with an update on what has occurred since my November 20 letter that shared information about the district’s proposed consolidation plan. Most important, I wanted to thank each and every one of you who took time to share your thoughts and feedback with us. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and our district leaders, we appreciated learning about your perspective as we studied this difficult topic that districts across the state must grapple with in light of state funding that has not kept pace with inflation as well as declining enrollment.

Following seven in-person meetings, one virtual session and Friday’s board workshop, our board met last night to take action on the school consolidation plan. The board approved the following actions, effective August 2026:

  • Fannin Elementary School students rezoned to Berlanga, Garcia and Hicks ES.

  • Kostoryz Elementary School students rezoned to Dawson, Galvan, Los Encinos and Yeager ES.

  • Sanders Elementary School students rezoned to Dawson, Galvan, Los Encinos and Yeager ES.

  • Travis Elementary School students rezoned to Allen, Houston, Shaw and Zavala ES.

  • Browne Middle School students rezoned to Grant and Hamlin MS. *

  • Haas Middle School students rezoned to Adkins MS.*

  • Martin Middle School rezoned to Cunningham and Driscoll MS.

In the coming weeks, we will begin to share information with affected families and employees, and we are committed to providing support to all impacted by this significant change. We ask for your patience, as some information, such as bus routes, for example, will be available closer to the start of the school year. Families are also welcome to use the school site locator at ccisd.us.

At any time, we welcome questions via text (361) 600-3691 or email ccisd.tx@k12-lets-talk.com.

We thank you for trusting us with your students’ education, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our employees, all of whom make our students’ educational experience possible.

Sincerely,

Roland Hernandez, PH.D

Superintendent of Schools
