Corpus Christi ISD has achieved a Superior Achievement Rating for the 22nd consecutive year by Schools FIRST, a Texas financial accountability system.
This is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The district’s score was 96 out of 100, resulting in an “A” rating. The rating was announced during the Oct. 28 Board of Trustees meeting.
The primary goal of Schools FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school districts’ financial resources. This is the 22nd year of Schools FIRST, and with the district earning a Superior Achievement Rating each year.
“We are so proud of this achievement,” Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez said. “This is representative of the hard work and dedication in our district. We are honored to receive this rating for the 22nd consecutive year.”

In accordance with state legislation passed in 2019, all Texas public school districts are required by law to include the sentence on all bond proposals, regardless of whether the bond would affect the district’s tax rate. Bond 2024 will not increase the Corpus Christi ISD’s tax rate.

Since 2008, CCISD’s school bond program has enabled the district to build nearly 20 new school buildings and significantly renovate many others. This year, Corpus Christi ISD’s trustees approved placing a $135.4 million bond proposal on the Nov. 5 ballot. The measure would not affect residents’ tax rate.
