Corpus Christi ISD’s school board adopts 2025-26 budget, including raises
During their June 9 meeting, CCISD’s board of trustees voted unanimously to approve the district’s 2025-2026 budget, a $372.6 million package that includes raises for all eligible permanent employees.
Raises for teachers, registered nurses and librarians who are paid according to the district’s Teacher Salary Schedule will see significant increases due to the legislative changes approved in HB2. The increase is based on experience, with 1-4 years receiving $2,500 and those with 5 years and more receiving $5,000.
All other employees will also receive increases based on consecutive years of CCISD employment. In CCISD, raises and stipends are calculated using the midpoint of an employee’s salary range. The raises will be provided only up to the maximum allowed in each applicable pay grade.
The salary increases are:
Eligible employees with 1 through 5 consecutive years of CCISD service will receive a 1% raise based on midpoint.
Eligible employees with 6 through 12 consecutive years of CCISD service will receive a 2% raise based on midpoint.
Eligible employees with 13 or more consecutive years of CCISD service will receive a 3% raise based on midpoint.
CCISD continuously reviews processes and costs to ensure good stewardship by identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and making strategic decisions to strengthen the district’s financial health. Although the district’s budgeted deficit increased slightly, to $21.8 million from $20.0 million the district remains committed to returning to a more stable and sustainable financial footing. CCISD is also exploring ways to support continued growth without compromising the quality of work or the team’s well-being.
“Although the Basic Allotment increase was less than we need to catch up to higher costs, we are grateful for the steps the Texas Legislature took toward improving teacher salaries,” said Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “CCISD employees’ dedication and hard work remain essential to our success, and we are grateful for their continued service to our district.”
Corpus Christi ISD’s first day of classes will be Monday, Aug. 11
