This year’s celebration shines a little brighter as we highlight a Ruby theme, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the district’s Teacher of the Year celebration. Our Teachers of the Year are truly the gems of our district, polishing minds, shaping futures and helping students sparkle every day.
McHugh, a graduate of McMurry University, currently serves as head football coach at Bishop High School. His coaching experience also includes service at Ingleside High School, Taft High School and Mathis High School. He serves on the Coastal Bend Coaches Association board of directors and is a brand ambassador for the Texas High School Coaches Association.
“The committee appreciated Coach McHugh’s longstanding commitment to Coastal Bend athletics as well as his high regard for community engagement,” said Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “We look forward to an exciting new chapter for the Miller Bucs under his leadership.”
McHugh will begin working in his new capacity in May.

Kaffie students took on the Presidential AI challenge and placed 1st and 2nd in their division out of thousands of entries.
The 1st place team's project, "Running out of Water," uses AI to detect leaks and help conserve water. Way to go, Kaffie Middle School! 👏

Meet Jacob Moya! Jacob graduated from Roy Miller High School in 2022. He is a lab technician at Austin Regional Clinic & Volunteer Health Care Clinic.
"Through the Health Sciences Program at Miller High School, I was able to support myself throughout my undergraduate years at the University of Texas at Austin. This program provided me with the opportunity to work in the healthcare field directly out of high school and make a difference. "

Meet Margarito Luna Jr.! Margarito graduated from Carroll High School and is a maintenance planning coordinator at CPS Energy.
