Corpus Christi ISD has received a wonderful holiday gift: the district’s school board has been named one of five state finalists for Outstanding School Board in the prestigious H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program.
“I am so proud to see our trustees recognized by this highly selective program,” said Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “We are grateful to have our amazing leaders honored by H-E-B, a longstanding supporter of public education.”
Winners will be announced at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony in Spring 2026.
H-E-B Excellence in Education’s school board honor is designed to recognize public school boards that have demonstrated real leadership in the community that it serves based on three basic criteria: academic/student progress within the district; identification of community needs and specific actions taken based on those needs; and new and creative methods for community engagement.
Since their awards program began in 2002, H-E-B has awarded more than $14 million to Texas teachers, principals, public school districts, school boards and early childhood facilities.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank CCISD and H-E-B for celebrating the challenging, rewarding work public school board trustees do, day in and day out,” said Board President Dolly Gonzales Trolley. “CCISD is truly the place to be, and we are grateful to represent the district’s incredible students and staff.”
