Corpus Christi ISD names King High School athletic coordinator/head football coach
Austin Menner has been selected to lead Richard King High School’s athletics program.
A former college football player at both the Air Force Academy and Abilene Christian University, Menner comes from a family of coaches and led the highest-scoring offense in Texas 5A football over the past two seasons.
Menner currently serves as co-offensive coordinator and assistant track coach at Roy Miller High School. Menner also served as co-offensive coordinator at South Garland High School.
He earned a Master of Science in sports administration – educational leadership from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas.
"The committee appreciated Mr. Menner's coaching experience and strong educational background," Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez said. "We are excited to welcome Coach Menner to the Mustang family and look forward to his leadership during this exciting time."
Corpus Christi ISD has named Dr. Aurelio Tamayo principal of Roy Miller High School.
His appointment in this new role comes after Sandy Salinas-DeLeon announced her retirement after 34 years in education.
Tamayo is currently the principal of Blanche Moore Elementary School. He has also served as an assistant principal at Hamlin Middle School and served as an administrator for the district’s Student Support Services department. Additionally, he has experience as principal of Banquete High School.
Tamayo earned his Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
He will begin his new role as principal of Miller High School in February. Michelle Perkins, who is currently assistant principal of Moore Elementary, will serve as interim principal.
“Dr. Tamayo exemplifies the strong leadership we continue to develop in CCISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “His leadership and commitment to student success makes him an outstanding choice to lead the Miller community.”
